I tried two ways to stop the installer, first like philpio with task manager and second by rebooting the computer with it still hung. If you leave the hung installation window open you will find icloud in the start list and can connect it to Outlook and it will operate as usual. Also at some point I will see a message that says the installer cannot proceed because another installer has failed to complete.Īs a workaround philpio has discovered something. Maybe the backup files the installer is looking for are missing or corrupted. I think my problem started when an automated itunes/icloud update hung up while installing forcing a reboot of the computer. By the way I have a previously good download of an earlier icloud version and it fails the same way. Seems like this needs to go back to the Apple techs who developed the icloud installer. There are some developer discussions on the web about similar "removing backup files" hangs as they were testing windows installer in their apps, but they are all pretty old.
I am not willing to venture down that rabbit hole with out assistance. I suspect that is where the problem might be but am far from qualified to tell you why. We have not attempted any registry fixes. I haven't heard back from the last attempt on October 27th.

Then they sent a 64 bit version of i cloud with instructions to manually remove all pertinent apple stuff and manually reinstall them. We have tried removing everything Apple from my windows 10 installation. I have been in touch with Apple support for weeks and have a case number.
